We were honored to offer a complimentary stay at the Lobenhaus Bed & Breakfast for two retired veterans and their wives. The inn was decorated in small touches of red, white & blue… Uncle Sam smiled from his bench. The breakfast table also showed its colors…star & stripes napkins rings, flags under the plates, small glass colored stars, etc. The Menu – Patriotic Pancakes, Liberty Eggs, Old Glory Bacon, Freedom Fruit & Justice Juice. Our guests spent the holiday at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum just a few minutes down the road. Special Veterans Day events honored those in service past & current. One small thank you for the sacrifices of so many fine patriots & their families.

Wow, what a fine group of athletes! Half- Marathon runners. All sizes, ages, level of fitness… all up at the crack of dawn to enjoy the Oregon wine countryside. We stood by the great fir trees by our driveway to cheer them on… they smiled back & said thanks for coming out to support THEM… can you believe? Our own B & B hosted runners.. at 0515 we served coffee, juices, bananas, cold cereals, baked healthful oatmeal (with nuts, chopped apples & craisins), blueberry muffins and morning glory muffins… bowl of fresh cherries…

Flamingo Invasion in OR Wine Country
August 12th, 2010 by
The Lobenhaus Bed & Breakfast gardens have been ”flocked” !! Magically, dozens of pink flamingos appeared among the flowers, by the waterfall…. all over the lawn. What a novel idea. Students from a local group is raising money to fund their trip next spring. For a small or (generous) donation they are happy to move the birds on to your friend’s yard to be “flocked”. Our B & B guests got a big kick out of the lawn decor! Several folks borrowed the idea to use in their own fund-raising projects.

Bird Watching at Lobenhaus B & B Carlton, OR
March 7th, 2010 by
The Lobenhaus had a very special visitor the other day – a handsome American Bald Eagle! Wish I could share a photo… but he gave me the eagle eye & soared away. Mr. Eagle was flying from tree to tree watching the rainbow trout in our pond. Absolutely beautiful in flight! Here is a partial list of winged friends you may sight (seasonal & transient)) around our grounds of natural habitat woods, creek & vineyards: Downy woodpeckers, Steller & scrub Jays, White crowned sparrows, American Robins, Black-capped Chickadees, Rufous Towhees, House Wrens, Viotent-green & Barn Swallows, Northern (Bullocks’s) Orioles, Belted Kingfishers, Killdeer, Common flicker, Red-winged Blackbirds, Anna’s & Rufous Hummingbirds, Cedar Waxwings, American Goldfinch, Mourning Doves,Western Bluebirds, Evening Grosbeaks… by the water: Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Turkey Vultures, American Kestrel, Mallards, Buffle Heads & Wood Ducks.. at night, various owls may serenade… they keep out of sight & are not identified. We welcome your visit, a day or two, or just an afternoon - bring binoculars, picnic & Oregon Pinot Noir!
Wine Shipping
May 22nd, 2009 by

Pinot Noir country
Wine Country Shippers offers a free courier service to our B & B guests. They provide totes to fill with your wine purchases from one or several wineries. When you return to our inn, we will call to schedule a pick-up. Only the standard shipping costs will apply. A great option since liquids cannot be carried on flights. Also many wineries will only ship wine purchased at their own winery. We are very pleased to offer this complimentary service.
